Rumbustifcation

On Friday we had Rumbustifcation day it is a day where the school does fun activity's for the whole day. My favourite activity was the bikes there was heaps if different ones like a wheelchair, a 3 and 4 seater bike. 

We went and ate lunch and after that I went to the hall to play some badminton and a little kid hit me in the rist with a badminton racket and it hurt really bad so I went back to class. 

Then Me Jayden, Zaza, William and Angus went and played basket ball and Jayden done a 720 3 pointer and destroyed everyone. 

Year 8 Formal Dinner

 Yesterday night at 6:00pm most of the year 8 students came to the hall for a dinner and disco. We got there about 6:00 and from then we mostly just hung around in the hall, I was playing keep up the balloon. We got to the dinner tables at 7:00 and had a lot of different meats and salads. Rhycos done a speech to thank everyone and the chefs and teachers. Once his speech was finished we had dessert we had different cakes with ice cream. After dessert we went back to the hall and done what we wanted then at 9:00 is when our parents came to pick us up.

 Today me and Ezra decided to start doing digital art we were  going to do music but youtube was blocked so we couldn't do music. We have only just stared doing digital art but hopefully we can do something with the time we have.

This week we have been doing space science. We had to make a world model and a stop motion about it. We learnt that the world spins on an axis and the sun rotates and it spins anti clockwise. 

Focus Writing

 In 1969 there was a brave dog that went to war. His name was Harry and he was made to go to war when he didn’t want to. He was still young and didn’t want to die but he went anyway. He had to go through training, he had to learn how to drive, load and shoot a gun and learn how to survive. The Russians started a war with America. Harry was really scared to go to war but he knew that he had to when they ran out onto the battlefield Harry saw a lot of enemies. He wasn't the type of guy to harm people but he had to do it for his country.

Spencer Park Trip

 On Tuesday we went to Spencer park for the day. First we drove to broad park and played on the playground until the other people got there then we got into our groups and began our journey. There was a running, walking and run/walk group I was in the running group with my friends the first 3km was the hardest for me I was exhausted but I keeped going when we were in the last 4km I was feeling great and I felt like I could keep going for ages. When we ran around the corner and saw Spencer park I was cheerful because we had made it. When we got there it was raining so we grabbed our bags and and ran to the picnic area then we sat down and talk about the run and had some food. 

Te Reo Maori

 In Te Reo Maori we had to do 10 comments in Ata Hapara so we could learn how to write some maori words. We had to write Maori words into our books. I can use words like Tau ke which means awesome.

Friday review

For literacy we have been brainstorming about nouns, characters, places and interactions. My favorite one was the Tuesday one because it was easier to understand.  

Tech

 Yesterday we went to tech. The first class that we had was cooking in cooking we made pizzas  I had cheese, salami and baby spinach on my pizza. The next class we had was wood works in wood works we nearly finished our key tags.

School Trip To Town

Trip To Town

Yesterday we went to Queen Victoria square. We had to draw pictures of captain cook and Victoria and other things like the fountain and the Maori sautes. Then we went to the town hall and watched a show that included Takaroa , Papatuanuku and Tane-Mahuta. And they preformed in front of a lot of schools I enjoyed watching the show and I learnt that in the north the call it Takaroa and in the south we call it Tangaroa.

Surfing School at Sumner

Yesterday went surfing at Sumner. Sumner Surf School gave us a free lesson from 8:30 to 12:00. The first thing that we done was get into our wet suits then get our surf boards and went down to the beach and had a surf. Near the end me and my friend Angus surfed on the same board it was really fun one person was sitting on the front and one was at the back. Then we at the end we came 2nd in a surfing race thing so our team got a bag of lollies.

Why do people migrate

Why do people migrate?

People migrate because they don’t have enough space, food and supplies. Some people like to live in hot weather and some people like to live in cold weather so they move around the world to suit what temperature they want to live in. Some people are curious about what's around the world so they move so they can see what’s there. 

Gym 1

 Today we went to Christchurch School of Gymnastics. When we got there we had to sit on a line that was in the shape of a square and take our shoes and socks off then we were told which line to go into me and my friend Angus were in the yellow line. The first activity that we done was the trampoline into the foam pit we done a couple 360s into the foam pit then we had to move on to the next one. Then we went and done handstands and stuff it wasn't that fun Then we went to the ringy tingy and hold ourselves upside down. Then we went to the  balance beams we had to crawl on them, walk backwards and sideways. Then we went on to other trampoline and done some movements in the air. Then we came back to school.

   FITNESS

The first thing that we done was get into even lines behind the cones then we had too run to the tyre and flip it to the next person then you run back with the tyre and the other person runs to the tyre and does the same thing. Then we went out to the playground and done the confidence course.

Choice and challenge

In choice and challenge we had some kids that were trying beat us up and run witch was no fun. and they all run away after that but we had to tell the teachers and the kids that ran away are not aloud to come back.

Fitness

Today in fitness we had to race though cones with a doge ball, then turn around and run back though them, and pass the ball to the person waiting. The last team to finish add to stand up and do 10 star jumps then we played tug if war with a tyre. The tyre game was too easy to me. I want to try to go hard even when it's easy.

This week in fitness we have been doing relays with tyres it's hard to run with a tyre on your arm. Then we go inside and do dancing. One of the dances that we do is Saturday night disco dance. I'm getting better at it. Another dance that we did was Cupid shuffle. I found the disco dance the hardest.  

One of the new dances that we're learning is called the bunny hop. I didn't like the bunny hop that much.

Yesterday we went to Tech for the first time this year. This term im in cooking and plastics. In cooking we made wedges and meat balls they were petty good and in plastics we made hooks that you put on the back of a door so that you can hang stuff off them.
